The systematic search for plant species that provide antioxidants to the diet has been a constant in recent decades. For screening, different tests have been proposed to distinguish the best candidates. Taking the above as a basis, in this work we propose a simple, rapid, and direct test carried out on leaf discs that would facilitate this task. The antioxidant activity of different species was analyzed: guava (Psidium guajava), oak (Quercus polymorpha), cenizo (Leucophyllum frutescens), walnut (Juglans regia), basil (Ocimum basilicum), ancua (Ehretia anacua), anacahuita (Cordia boissieri). and ebony (Ebenopsis ebano). It was demonstrated that guava, walnut, and oak species have an interesting content of antioxidant compounds. The proposed test allows effective screening with considerable savings in resources, which makes it ideal in studies aimed at systematic bioprospecting of plant species.
